6 reasons to work in a bar in 2019
1. For fun?
If this wasn’t obvious already working on a bar provides such a buzz that you won’t get anywhere else. You have lucked out really when you can get paid good money to attend amazing events throughout the country. Imagine going to work on a Friday evening and watching your favourite bands and artists performing as you work.
2. We all need more friends, right?
Working in a fast-paced environment that is fun and full of energy is already a win win situation, on top of that you can make life long friends. Working with your mates in amazing places sounds damn good to me.
3. Cocktails, cocktails and more cocktails.
I mean who doesn’t love a good cocktail? You can be given mixology and cocktail making training by award winning industry experts. How impressed will your friends be when you can make them a killer mojito?
4. Promotion, progression and self-development.
Bar work and hospitality is an industry which can offer some of the best career progression possible. Within 6 months of being fully trained you can start to climb the ladder of management or become a subject matter expert in cocktail making for example. The more effort you put in the more you get out.
5. Flexibility.
Bar work is both a full time and part time career choice that can fit around almost anything. Especially education and university. There is a huge number of hours available in bar work, some bars open at eleven in the morning and won’t close until way after midnight. So, there is between twelve to fifteen hours available at bars every day. Being able to have a job that you enjoy with people you enjoy working with and still not have to sacrifice other things you enjoy is a huge benefit.
6. Confidence
Confidence is key to developing yourself. There is no other industry in the world that can increase your confidence more than bar work You are talking to a wide range of unique people daily. “When you walk into a bar imagine you are walking on to the stage because the performance is about to start” Your confidence will grow from strength to strength.
